Networking: 2008 All Stars Gala, Inn at Warner Hall, Gloucester, VA

Thirty-six members and guests attended this year's All Stars Gala Luncheon to vote prizes to three of 16 members who signed up to read their work. Prizes for 1st place (Paul Stimson), 2nd place (Patricia Gurley) and 3rd place (Greta Baker Ward) were checks for $75, $50 and $25, respectively. The Richard V. Bailey Humor Award ($25) went to Tom Neiger for the third consecutive year. Each winner received a framed certificate courtesy of artisan Rick Bailey. Catherine C. Brooks wins 3rd Place Statewide for nonfiction:

"It's OK to Cry"

This year's All Stars Gala event also marks the first time a member of CBW was presented an award from the Virginia Writers Club for an entry in the statewide Two-Tier Writing contest. Catherine C. Brooks won 3rd place for her nonfiction entry, "It's OK to Cry". The award was accepted on behalf of Brooks by Chapter President Mary Ann Carr at the VWC's 90th Birthday Celebration that marked its Annual meeting on November 6th, and presented to her at the 2008 All Stars Gala.
