About Our Organization
Founded in 1991, the CBW began as a chapter of
the Virginia Writers Club(VWC) and remained so until 1998 when it surrendered its
charter in order to pursue growth as an independent organization. In 2006,
the CBW membership elected to re-affiliate with the VWC. By doing so, its members
gained access to a wider range of writing-related opportunities and
resources than would
be possible for the CBW to provide as a stand-alone organization.

The CBW hosts five
luncheon or dinner meetings each year. These meetings are open to
the public and offer a variety of informative programs about writing,
publishing and marketing finished works. Included is an annual All
Stars Gala at which members entertain one another by reading their work. Cash prizes
are awarded.
In addition, the CBW sponsors recurrent workshops and outreach events, which afford members opportunities to exchange ideas and establish contact with others having similar interests. Individual members also host various critique and Open mic groups which meet regularly at different times and locations to assist members in achieving their writing goals. |
