Author Bio
As a fiction writer, my past life as a small town divorce lawyer informs the relationships and families in my stories. First two novels from small press, WHITE LIES and WALTZING COWBOYS, both nominated for Library of VA Fiction award. WALTZING COWBOYS was a second place winner in the VA Press Women Communications Contest and an Editor's pick on bookviews.com. Creating characters from words excites me more than anything except spending time with my family.
My third novel CATCHER, CAUGHT(Lake Union, 2010) is a Pen Faulkner Foundation selection for its Writers in Schools program, taught in high schools as a twenty-first century segue to The Catcher in the Rye. It has won numerous awards, including one of 100 semi-finalists in the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Contest, and second prize in the F. Scott Fitzgerald Literary awards for an excerpt submitted as a short story.
My fourth novel MINDING HENRY LEWIS (The Point Books, 2014) is inspired by the drowning death of a boy near my river home and explores the friendship between the boy's older sister and the neighbor who cannot save the boy.
