Dear Friends,
I hope you missed me a little bit while I took a break. To make up for it, I have a lot of news to share.
Here goes.
The film is a go. We have cast the experienced young actor Rafe Bird to play Doyle, which completes the set. A mannequin will portray Mrs. Eddowes's body, as I don't have to pay her.
Below is some information about my three musketeers.
Rafe Bird
Rafe Bird is an actor from Nottingham, he jumped straight into acting from the age of 16, building up a substantial portfolio of work from low-no budget short films, to commercials, feature films and he even presented a travel documentary in Morocco! Most recently, he has portrayed another character based on a real person; 'Chissa', a member of Squadron 452 in the multi-award-winning 'Shamrock Spitfire', now available on Sky Premier and Apple TV. For those who wonder what an audition tape looks like, I have his permission to share a link to his here.
Lauren Cornelius
Lauren will be portraying the indomitable Margaret Harkness. She is well-known to Doctor Who fans as she voices the part of Dodo Chaplet for the Big Finish Productions audio dramas among her many credits.
Matthew Lloyd Davies
The role of Professor Bell will be portrayed by Matthew Lloyd Davies, who has his own Wikipedia page. He narrated the audiobook of A Knife in the Fog, which won Audiofile Magazine's 2019 Earphone Award.
The filming will occur on July 26 and 28 in a 19th-century morgue. I'll be sure to have pictures for the following newsletter.
While in London, I will celebrate my birthday at the Crutched Friar, a pub around the corner from Vine Street, where I placed Margaret Harkness. It is beneath the Fenchurch rail station where my heroes have their final confrontation with Jack the Ripper.
Not a bad way to commemorate my 73rd birthday.
Wish me luck on the set in London. I look forward to sharing the images of that grand adventure with you.
