About the event

Join us at Rocco's for lunch and listen to Bradley Harper tell us about his time as a judge.

How to Get the Reader to Chapter Two

During the height of the pandemic, Bradley was one of nine judges assigned to judge entries for Best Novel for the Edgars. During  12-month period he was assigned almost two-hundred books, most of which he stopped reading by page twenty.

What was it that made him put a book down or plow on, he wondered? Bradley did a retrospective analysis and came up with ten common factors that led to a book quickly becoming an also-ran. In his talk he'll share his findings.
